I was hoping this would show us how to MAKE the sugar "wax".... the removal part is easy but finding a good recipe online for the sugar wax is apparently impossible. I've tried making it at home and no luck. Buying plastic pots full of sugar wax is not much better than buying pots of normal wax. Anyone, tips on making sugar wax at home? as in, ratios + temperature (I have a thermometer) thanks in advance
What about depilatories? Is there a natural version of "Nair"? That's the easiest hair removal IMO.
I was hoping for a recipie as well. I'm wondering if you just try to make a sugar syrup (using organic sugar of course!) and cook it to just less than "soft ball" temperature if that would work. Frankly, I've not had time to experiment.
I found a sugaring recipe here: http://www.ehow.com/how_5347957_make-hair-removing-wax.html This is pretty close to what I remember doing last time I did this (years ago!), except I didn't use any honey. Just sugar and lemon juice. Getting the temperature just right is the trickiest thing-- don't let it go too long, or it will VERY quickly turn hard. But if you don't cook it long enough, it won't be sticky enough. But, better to err on the not-long-enough side than to overdo it and ruin the whole batch.
hi everyone! hanah, we are so thrilled that you shared your sugaring experience on this great video! thanks so much! sugaring gel is actually something very tricky to master making. true the removal is easy, but you have to find an effective sugaring gel first. Shobha® Sugaring Gel is all-natural, made of only sugar, lemon juice, water and a touch of glycerin. we chose a plastic jar so that folks could use it conveniently with a microwave to heat, however we are also on the look out for more sustainable/compostable packaging options (so if you have any suggestions, please let us know what you would prefer!). Shobha® Sugaring Gel is actually based on the secret family recipe of Shobha Tummala, the founder of our company. we use this gel in our three salons in new york city to effectively remove hair from all of over the body (facial hair to brazilian bikinis). so instead of attempting a chemistry lab in your kitchen (it really is a complicated process!) you can always give our sugaring kit a try! thanks for reading and if you should have any questions about hair removal, please contact us: thoughts@myshobha.com
Yes, I'd love to buy a sugaring 'gel', but really? $22 for some sugar with lemon juice (or $30 with some plastic sticks, denim strips and non-talc powder? who can't buy some popsicle sticks, cut up some old jeans and use the baby powder in the back of their medicine cabinet)? Plus the point of it being in a plastic jar totally negates the idea of using the sugar wax in the first place. So in reality, 'attempting a chemistry lab' in my kitchen is a whole lot more green than using a product shipped across the country in a plastic jar. Besides, what's with the advertisement comment above mine? Is that OK with idealbite?
