Yellowpagesgogreen.org...is not set up
I just logged on and opted out. You may want to try, again.
This site is a portal that will take you to a laundry list of other sites where you can either opt-out or call to get your address off the phone book drop list. It is a lot of work and hassle. Another must is to sign the Ban the Phonebook petition at www.banthephonebook.org - doesn't get you off any lists, but does make you part of a movement to allow people to opt in to receive phone books, therefore saving trees for us and saving $$ for the phone companies. Ultimately, we pay for all those books with our wallet and with the loss to our environment.
I registered at http://www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org/ last year and am still receiving phone book after phone book after phone book. It may put you on a list but it doesn't tell the people who deliver the books not to give you one. When the phone books are delivered I see one in front of every single door of my apartment complex and in front of every single door of the apartment complexes and houses in my area. They just look for people willing to work 1 or 2 days delivering phones books and deliver them they do. I received either 7 or 8 more phone books since I signed up to stop getting them. I remember when I used to get 1 white pages and 1 yellow pages each year. When did they start multiplying like guppies?
I agree, that I don't think they look on any list, they just deliver a phone book to every single house. However, I just called AT&T and got my name removed from their list. They promised not to deliver any more again, but I'll have to wait until next year to see what happens. In the meantime, I have a stack of phone books two feet high heading for the recycling bin....disgusting, for sure.
