DVD Recycling

Welcome to Movie(Cycle) Phone

10.30.2009

The Bite:
If you know the name of the movie you'd like to see...head to MovieCycle. The new shop buys, sells, trades, and rents used DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, video games, and even some VHS tapes. (What, no Beta?) MC usually pays $1 and up for DVDs (not all scratched), and opting for store credit over cash means a 25% higher payout. Among the 10,000 items in stock: Waiting for Guffman, The Grudge (scary movies 10% off till tomorrow), and the Back to the Future set. Good-buy.
Why Care?:
Recycling DVDs and games keeps 'em from littering landfills (these plastics never fully biodegrade); plus, buying used instead of new keeps more bucks in your wallet.
We sold Rage Against the Machine's concert DVD and The African Queen (sorry, Humphrey), scoring us $4 in credit - we're halfway to that $8 Mallrats disc.
Wanna Try:
MovieCycle, 2240 NW Market St. (206-420-3568). Most DVDs, $6-$7.

Cocktail Fact

Twister (1996), starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, was the first movie released on DVD.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters recycle a DVD instead of tossing it, we'll keep the weight of 69 coffee tables in plastic and paper out of landfills.
