Glenn Clothes

The Bite:
Got a Fatal Attraction to shopping? (No need to get dramatic.) Give former big-time shopper Sally Bjornsen an eco high five. Along with 24 other women from LA to the UK, this Seattleite's committed to not purchasing new clothes for a year as part of The Great American Apparel Diet, which she helped spawn. Give these gals an Oscar.
How's it going so far? Is it difficult not shopping?
Sally: So far so good - only one person has fallen off the wagon.

Are you allowed to buy secondhand clothing?
Sally: No secondhand for me. There is one woman who has agreed to do this with the exception of secondhand shopping.

What are you hoping to accomplish over the next year by not shopping?
Sally: I am trying to really wear my clothes. I want to see if I can get the most from my apparel.

What's your eco pet peeve?

Sally: People who don't recycle - especially in Hawaii.

What one eco thing can you not live without?
Sally: My compost bin.
Wanna Try:
Sally likes to take in the PNW's beauty at Discovery Park, 2801 W. Government Way.

Cocktail Fact

Goodwill receives more than 1 billion pounds of donated clothing each year.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters refrain from buying just one T-shirt, we'll keep the weight of 17 giant pandas in new materials outta production.
