Eyebrow:
DIY Classes

Workshop, Drop, and Roll

The Bite:
Need to fan the flames of creativity? Extinguish hobby monotony at Workshop, a new Western Addition spot specializing in all things DIY. Brought to you by the Indie-Mart kids, Workshop corrals SF's craftiest peeps to teach you their tricks in a space outfitted with a fleet of sewing machines (tomorrow: a reconstructing vintage tees class), screen printing facility (tonight: a late-night screen printing class), and tons o' tools - pretty much a win-win sitch all around. Learn perfume alchemy, how to brew your own beer, and so on. Because you're no victim.

Why Care?:
Not only does DIY-ing save you money on store-bought goods, but making new things out of old materials keeps perfectly good stuff out of landfills.

We stayed after class to peruse Workshop's how-to-book library for some DIY holiday gift cramming.

Wanna Try:
Workshop, 1798 McAllister St. (415-874-9186). Classes; $10-$35.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters retool a vintage tee instead of buying a new conventional one, we'll avert the weight of 22 fire fighters in pesticides.
